AP Macroeconomics Practice
Six unit-based practice sets aligned to the College Board AP Macroeconomics Course & Exam Description. Questions target actual AP MCQ difficulty — curve shifts, multi-step calculations, and Fed/fiscal transmission chains. Every answer comes with an explanation you can learn from.
Study strategy
- Work in order the first time. Units build on each other — Unit 3 (AD-AS) needs Unit 2 (indicators), and Units 5-6 assume everything before.
- Read every explanation, especially on questions you got right. AP graders reward reasoning, not just answers. Explanations show the reasoning chain — the actual test skill.
- Retake weak units after 48 hours. Spaced repetition beats cramming for definitions and mechanism questions.
- Pair with the interactive tools. The Phillips curve simulator, Fed simulator, and supply & demand sandbox reinforce Units 3-5 with visual intuition.
- The full AP exam is 60 MCQs in 70 minutes plus 3 FRQs in 60 minutes. This practice set covers the MCQ half — content mastery. FRQ practice comes next.
Score interpretation (approximate)
- 9-10 / 10 correct across all six units: AP-5 territory. You have the content.
- 7-8 / 10 consistently: AP-4 territory. A round of review on missed topics should push you higher.
- 5-6 / 10: AP-3 territory — passing but with real gaps. Retake weak units, revisit the CED for those chapters.
- Below 5 / 10: Foundation is shaky. Start with the general Macro Beginner quiz before returning here.
Score-to-AP-grade mapping is a rough guide only. Actual AP scoring weights FRQs and uses year-specific curves.
