AP Microeconomics Practice

Six unit-based practice sets aligned to the College Board AP Microeconomics Course & Exam Description. Questions target actual AP MCQ difficulty — elasticity calculations, cost curves, monopoly deadweight loss, factor markets, and externality analysis. Every answer comes with an explanation you can learn from.

📚 60 questions total 🎯 AP-exam difficulty ⏱️ ~10 min per unit 📖 Detailed explanations

Study strategy

  • Work in order the first time. Units build on each other — Unit 3 (cost curves & perfect competition) is the foundation for Unit 4 (imperfect competition), and Unit 6 (market failure) draws on all prior units.
  • Read every explanation, especially on questions you got right. AP graders reward reasoning, not just answers. Explanations show the reasoning chain — the actual test skill.
  • Retake weak units after 48 hours. Spaced repetition beats cramming for definitions and graph-drawing questions.
  • Pair with the interactive tools. The supply & demand sandbox, elasticity calculator, price ceiling and price floor simulators, and the Prisoner's Dilemma game reinforce Units 2, 4, and 6.
  • The full AP exam is 60 MCQs in 70 minutes plus 3 FRQs in 60 minutes. This practice set covers the MCQ half — content mastery. FRQ practice comes next.

Score interpretation (approximate)

  • 9-10 / 10 correct across all six units: AP-5 territory. You have the content.
  • 7-8 / 10 consistently: AP-4 territory. A round of review on missed topics should push you higher.
  • 5-6 / 10: AP-3 territory — passing but with real gaps. Retake weak units, revisit the CED for those chapters.
  • Below 5 / 10: Foundation is shaky. Start with the general Micro Beginner quiz before returning here.

Score-to-AP-grade mapping is a rough guide only. Actual AP scoring weights FRQs and uses year-specific curves.
